I took my car here to get serviced, when I dropped it off I spoke with the receptionist and said they are going to put 5W-30 oil in the car, she said the Mechanics will check what oil the car requires and put the correct oil in, I picked up the car and when I got home I saw on the receipt that they put 15W-40 oil in. I called up the next morning when they opened and spoke with one of the guys and told him about what it said on the receipt, he remembered the vehicle as it was in the day before for other work, so he checked with the mechanic that did the service and he said 15W-40, yea that’s the wrong oil, he then said to come back up and they will change the oil, I then said the oil filter will need to be changed too and he said yep, it’s our mistake and we will change it, I went up there and the spoke to the receptionist, she got a different mechanic and he said we put this oil in as it’s a European car and the specs are for the cold weather over there not Australian weather and it’s an old engine that’s done 200,000km, (that doesn’t matter unless I say to put different oil into my vehicle you put what the manufacturer states, which is what I, the customer also stated when dropping off the car) the car could’ve had a new engine 40000km ago, he doesn’t know. he said he will change the oil but he won’t be at fault for any damage from the new oil, I said yea no worries just put the correct oil in, (knowing that the other oil would be the oil that could damage/cause wear on the engine and they would be responsible for any damage/wear from the incorrect oil being put in the engine) probably didn’t realise I do this for a living, they then took the car for 10-15mins and gave it back to me, I then drove it home opened my bonnet and checked to see if the writing I put under the sticker of the old oil filter was there, and yes it was, so now the correct oil is contaminated with the incorrect oil, we called up again and they said they never agreed to change the oil filter, well that’s common sense when you put the wrong oil in or when you do any oil change, I personally would have flushed the engine as well. So they then said bring it up again and they will sort it out, I have already brought a new filter and the oil and will do it correctly when I fly back home from site.
